Living well is also learning
to die with grace,
leaving not only memories
as an inheritance,
but the possibility of mourning
healthier and full of peace.
I was born in East Timor, raised in Portugal, and along the way, I've walked many paths—as a psychiatric nurse in England, an educational psychologist in the United States, a writer, and a walker on many trails and paths.
My father's death gave me strength, a drive to talk about death—such a difficult topic, but one that, I believe, carries within it a transformative power. Talking about the end helps us embrace life with greater fullness, gratitude, and even joy, recognizing the beauty of the cycles that shape us. I write and share to learn and, perhaps, touch other lives.
